School-age boy dies in Fort Worth house fire; 2 other children flown to burn hospital

A little boy died, and three other children were injured in a fire in the middle of the night Thursday at a house in south Fort Worth, authorities said.

Flames licked from the front and side of the house when the fire erupted about 3 a.m. at the house in the 4200 block of McCart Avenue, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek said.

As firefighters were on their way to the scene, they received word that people were possibly trapped in the house. A bystander pulled two people from the house; firefighters pulled out two others, Trojacek said.

Fire Department arson investigators are at the house and working to determine the cause of the fire.

Seven people lived in the house, Trojacek said. Two children were taken by helicopter to a burn hospital. Another child was taken in an ambulance to a hospital in Fort Worth. A fifth child was not injured. One adult was treated at the scene; another adult was not injured.
