A dirt-bike rider was killed in a crash in Fort Worth on Tuesday, Fort Worth Police said.

Officers responded to the crash about 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of East Cannon Street and Loney Street involving a person on a dirt bike and a GMC Yukon, police said in a statement.

When officers arrived they found the bike rider on the ground suffering from injuries after colliding with the GMC, police said. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the rider was traveling westbound at the intersection at the same time as the GMC was traveling southbound. The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, ran the stop sign and drove into the path of the GMC leading to the crash, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office will identify the person who died after next of kin have been notified.
