Some of Texas’ major cities rank in the top 30 for the greatest number of “best” senior living communities, according U.S. News & World Report.

The news organization touts itself as the lead authority in health care rankings and consumer advice. U.S. News recently released its 2026 Best Senior Living Ratings, based on surveys of residents and their families across more than 3,000 senior living facilities. The rankings are created as a tool for families to navigate their many options when picking a facility.

San Antonio boasts 15 of the best communities, while Austin has 17 and Houston has 25. But the region with the most facilities ranked “best” by U.S. News is Dallas-Fort Worth, with 39 of the country’s best senior living communities.
