16-year-old boy killed in accidental shooting at Fort Worth apartment, police say

A 16-year-old boy was killed when another teenager accidentally fired a gun and shot him in the chest Sunday evening inside a southwest Fort Worth apartment, police said.

Jaydon Jones died about 5:15 p.m. at The Nolan apartments in the 6600 block of South Hulen Street, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter, who is also 16, was detained, Fort Worth police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating the case.

“The Fort Worth Police Department recognizes the profound effect this tragic incident has on the victim’s family and the community,” police wrote in a statement.
