A driver who hit multiple vehicles during a police chase was killed in a crash early Sunday in Fort Worth, police said.

The chase began after officers saw a car traveling without headlights on about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 35W near Rosedale Street, police said in a news release.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle hit another car, and when officers tried to stop it, the driver did not yield and drove southbound on I-35.

During the chase, the suspect’s vehicle hit a second car and did not stop, police said. The pursuit continued until the vehicle left the highway near Tarver Road.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle and later found it in the 1500 block of Tarver Road, where it had gone off the roadway and crashed, police said.

Police said officers found two men inside the vehicle, including a passenger who was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died after his next of kin have been notified.

No officers or citizens were injured during the chase, police said.

Traffic Investigations and Major Case detectives are investigating the circumstances leading up to the pursuit and crash, according to the release.
