A 25-year-old woman was killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run crash in south Fort Worth, and the driver was arrested, police said.

Officers responded to the hit-and-run shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Glen Garden Drive and South Riverside Drive, Fort Worth police said in a statement.

A 911 caller reported seeing an injured pedestrian lying on the ground in the street. When officers arrived, they found the victim, who died at the scene, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman who died as 25-year-old Asel Abdurahiman Idris. Her death was an accident caused by blunt force injuries, according to the medical examiner.

Idris was trying to cross the road when she was struck, according to a police report.

Police said they found the suspect vehicle and the driver Monday. A police report and jail records identify the driver as 19-year-old Pascale Jerant, of Fort Worth. He faces a charge of collision involving death. On Tuesday, Jerant was being held in the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $50,000.
