The man whose body was found in the Trinity River near the downtown campus of Tarrant County College on Wednesday had been released from the Tarrant County Jail about two weeks earlier, his family said.

William Hernandez, 34, was booked into the jail on Jan. 6 on a charge of failure to identify, according to jail records.

After Hernandez was released, his family never heard from him again, according to posts on social media.

Hernandez flew into DFW Airport from Philadelphia on Jan. 4 to attend a fleet service agent training with American Airlines the next day, but never made it, the family’s private investigator told Telemundo.

Bedford police stopped Hernandez, who was traveling on foot, about 3 a.m. Jan. 6 on Texas Highway 183, Telemundo reported. He was released from the jail on the same day.

There were no signs of trauma on Hernandez’s body and no indication of foul play, Fort Worth police said. Hernandez had no mental or physical health issues, either, his family told Telemundo.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Results of an autopsy are pending, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
