A foot of snow in Fort Worth? It happened in February 2010, setting a record

One of the worst (or best?) snowfalls in Fort Worth in recent memory was a record-setting storm just before Valentine’s Day in 2010.

More than 12 inches of snow blanketed North Texas, which set a record for the most snow in a 24-hour period.

Anyone who was a kid back then certainly loved it — towering snowmen were all over the city, not to mention the snowball fights and snow angels.

Homeowners — not so much. The weight of the snow snapped trees, collapsed roofs and caused $25 million in damage, according to early estimates reported by the Star-Telegram at the time. The snow also knocked out power to tens of thousands.

Here’s a look back at S-T front pages and photos from across the city.
