As Texans take time to honor the men and women who’ve served in the U.S. military, Veterans Day is also a reminder of shared pride and community.

The holiday started as a way to remember those who died in World War I, but later expanded to honor all American veterans, both living and deceased.

Many people mark the day by visiting memorials, attending ceremonies, or gathering with loved ones.

Others may plan to run errands or pick up a few things, and if that includes grabbing some drinks for dinner, it helps to know what’s open and closed.

Here’s what to know about liquor stores in Texas this Veterans Day.

Are liquor stores open on Veterans Day in Texas?

Yes, liquor stores in Texas will be open on Veterans Day.

While the holiday is federally recognized, Texas law doesn’t require liquor stores to close on Nov. 11.

According to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), liquor stores are only required to close on the following days:

  • Sundays
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day

If Christmas or New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, liquor stores must also remain closed the following Monday.

That means stores will operate under normal business hours this Veterans Day, though it’s always best to call ahead to confirm.
