Will government shutdown impact DFW Airport or Dallas Love Field? What to know
North Texas’ two largest airports do not expect any impacts on flight operations amid the government shutdown.
A spokesperson for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport told the Star-Telegram on Wednesday morning that operations are normal.
“Airports are considered essential services, and key federal employees such as air traffic controllers and security personnel would continue during a government shutdown. As always, we encourage customers to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date flight information,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Similarly, a spokesperson for Dallas Love Field said the the airport does not anticipate any direct or adverse impacts on travelers.
“Beginning Oct. 1, 2025, the United States federal government has entered into a shutdown. At this time, DAL does not anticipate direct, adverse impacts on travelers. Federal airport employees, such as air traffic controllers, Hazmat safety inspectors, and those involved in “support functions necessary to provide timely payments to contractors and grantees,” are deemed essential. Additionally, other airport functions including public safety, concessions, parking, rental cars, and customer service are funded locally or privately. As such, the airport expects normal operations. However, depending on the shutdown duration, travelers may encounter extended wait times and flight delays,” the spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
