Two injured when car crashes into Fort Worth family’s home, police say
Two people were taken to a hospital after a Jeep crashed into a Fort Worth home on Sunday night.
Police said the vehicle was rear-ended by another car and then drove into the house in the 3700 block of East Berry Street. A resident and the driver of the Jeep were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The red Jeep crashed through a window of the home and pushed a man out of his bedroom, according to neighbors.
One of the neighbors, Shanequa Jones, told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that the Jeep came across her parents’ lawn before hitting the neighbor’s house.
“All I heard was a boom, boom, boom as you see a car coming up through my mom’s yard and actually go inside those people’s window,” Jones told WFAA.
The driver of the dark-colored sedan that hit the Jeep and caused the accident didn’t stop, police said. Officers are still searching for that hit-and-run driver.
“I was just thinking, oh my gosh this could have been us, this could have been anybody,” Jones said.
In May the city approved an East Berry Corridor Plan to improve the street. The plan includes looking at current conditions, getting feedback from the public and implementing recommendations for long-term transportation infrastructure.
The City of Fort Worth told the Star-Telegram that accidents on East Berry Street are being reviewed and traffic safety requests usually take 60 days.
“We are still reviewing the crash history at this intersection to determine appropriate safety countermeasures,” a spokesperson said. “This involves reviewing crash reports, including their contributing factors, field visits, etc. “
