A Los Angeles deputy police chief has withdrawn her application to become chief at the Fort Worth Police Department, leaving three finalists for the post.

Emada Tingirides’ departure from consideration is connected to her promotion at her current department. Tingirides will become an LAPD assistant chief overseeing five operations bureaus, a Fort Worth city spokesperson said on Monday.

Tingirides’ withdrawal leaves as finalists Fort Worth interim Chief Robert Alldredge, former Dallas police Chief Eddie Garcia and former Dallas police Assistant Chief Vernon Hale.

Fifty-one candidates applied for the open position. Nine were interviewed before the four finalists were selected.

Fort Worth City Manager Jay Chapa will make a pick to be considered in September by the city council.

People may question the finalists at a forum at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.
