With thunderstorms possible in North Texas during what could be a record-breaking July 4th weekend for travel, you should expect some delays and check your flight status before heading to the airport.

A spokesperson for Dallas Love Field said Thursday afternoon that the Federal Aviation Administration had issued departure delays due to weather conditions.

Travelers flying in or out of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport or Love Field should expect delays during the peak July 4 holiday.

Love Field said that 275,000 passengers will travel through DAL between June 2 and July 8. Thursday, July 3, was expected to be its busiest day.

At DFW, almost 1.8 million travelers are expected during the seven-day period from July 2 to July 8.

The FlightAware Misery Map shows that at 4:40 p.m. July 3, there were 91 delays and cancellations at DFW International Airport and 19 at Dallas Love Field.

With construction at DFW terminals, parking garages and roads, the airport recommends arriving at a minimum of two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
