Late night and early morning commuters can expect detours along the freeways linking Fort Worth to Weatherford this weekend.

The Texas Department of Transportation is shutting down both sides of the roughly 4-mile segment of Interstate 20 connecting Interstate 30 to Markum Ranch Road from 7 p.m., April 11, until 6 a.m. the following day, the agency announced. Travelers will be routed around I-30 and Loop 820 during the closure.

TxDOT is constructing a bridge at the freeway’s intersection with Bentley Road, one component of its $540 million overhaul of I-20 and I-30. The agency hopes the undertaking will accommodate population swells on Fort Worth’s western outskirts.

The first phase of the project, launched in 2023, will add lanes and new interchanges at Bentley and Walsh Ranch Parkway. TxDOT expects to wrap up the first of the project’s three phases by early 2026.
