1 person dead, 5 injured and 1 driver arrested after crash on I-35W in Fort Worth on Sunday

One person died and five people were injured in a crash involving three vehicles on Interstate 35W in Fort Worth on Sunday morning, March 23.

Officers responded to the fatal wreck in the southbound lanes of I-35W near I-20 about 2:45 a.m., according to the 911 call record.

Witnesses told Fort Worth police that an initial accident disabled two cars, and then there was a second crash when an oncoming vehicle hit one of the disabled cars.

According to a police report, one of the drivers who was hospitalized — 25-year-old Noah Miles, of Cleburne — is expected to face a charge of intoxication manslaughter. Investigators believe that Miles was drunk and they arrested him and took samples of his blood for testing, according to the report.

MedStar said that two of the injured people were taken to hospitals in serious condition, and three people were in fair condition.

The person who died will be identified by Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after the next of kin have been notified.

The Texas Department of Transportation reported about 3 a..m. that all lanes of southbound I-35W were closed to traffic near I-20 because of the crash. All lanes had reopened around 6:45 a.m.

The Fort Worth collision was one of at least three fatal crashes in the area this weekend that involved suspected drunken drivers, according to police. Investigators arrested one driver in connection to an Arlington crash, and another after a crash in Grand Prairie.
