85-year-old woman killed in crash involving semi in far west Fort Worth, officials say
A major accident between an 18-wheeler and five other vehicles Wednesday afternoon killed an 85-year-old woman and caused a major slowdown on two highways in far west Fort Worth, officials said.
Several police units and fire trucks were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Walsh Ranch Parkway about 12:45 p.m., according to the 911 call log. An 18-wheeler and five other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
The Texas Department of Transportation website showed that the shoulders and main lanes were blocked on both sides of I-30.
Photos from TxDOT cameras also showed traffic backed up on Interstate 20, which merges with I-30 in far west Fort Worth.
It was initially reported that two people received minor injuries in the crash. One of them later died at a hospital, according to police.
The woman who died was identified as Mary Wright of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
