Two Keller ISD schools were on lockout and a private Christian school canceled classes Wednesday morning while police investigated a bomb threat at a church in the area, police and school district officials said.

Keller police officers and firefighters responded to First Baptist Church and searched the building after being informed of the threat on Wednesday, March 12.

In an update about 10:30 a.m., police said the search found no evidence of a credible threat.

Harvest Christian Academy canceled classes for the day out of an abundance of caution, and two nearby Keller ISD campuses went on lockout as a precaution.

The lockouts were at Keller Compass Center, located at 250 College Ave., and Keller Middle School, located at 300 College Ave.

“The Keller Police Department requested that we initiate the lockout while officers respond to a concern in the community nearby,” district officials said in a letter to families.

School continues as normal during a lockout, Keller Independent School District spokesperson Bryce Nieman said, but no visitors are allowed inside. Students and staff have to remain inside until the lockout is lifted.
