A two-alarm fire at a Fort Worth apartment complex Friday night damaged eight units and left an estimated 20 people displaced, officials said.

Units responded to the The Springs, 3100 Hamilton Ave., shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28. Heavy fire was already showing from the second floor of the complex when they arrived, according to Fort Worth Fire Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek.

Firefighters assisted three adults and two children from the building, Trojacek said. Two people were treated and released at the scene. No one was taken to the hospital.

The fire damaged two units, and smoke and water damaged six more, according to Trojacek. It’s estimated that 20 people were displaced as a result of the blaze. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist them.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Trojacek said, and a person of interest has been identified.
