It’s only going to get hotter in DFW
Even more hot and sticky — call it miserable — weather is moving in on North Texas.
While Tuesday’s semitolerable temperatures touched only the high 90s, Wednesday’s high is expected to reach 100, Thursday’s could soar to 102, and Friday’s could hit 103 as a ridge of high pressure sits atop the region.
But what will make conditions worse is the amount of moisture in the air, said Lamont Bain, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
The weather service has issued a heat advisory for 1 p.m. Wednesday until 8 p.m. Thursday, with heat index values of 105 to 108.
“That’s how hot it’s going to feel,” Bain said.
In other words, stay indoors if possible, drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity, especially outdoors. And keep an eye on pets and elderly neighbors.
The highs are expected to stay between 103 and 105 through Monday. Lows should be in the 80s, all of which is pretty normal for this time of year.
“It looks pretty dry through the weekend, which will keep the temperatures pretty toasty,” Bain said.
