Fort Worth firefighters rescued a horse stuck in a cattle guard, officials say

Firefighters rescued a horse that got stuck in cattle guard, the Fort Worth Fire Department shared in a Facebook post.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, Fort Worth firefighters were dispatched to assist the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office to help the horse in the 10000 block of Alta Vista Road.

Deputies sedated the horse to keep him safe and the firefighters cut and spread the cattle guard to free the three legs that were stuck, officials said.

“The operation took about 45 minutes to completely free him,” officials said. “They then used a skid steer to move the horse across the road and stand him up in the grass.”

Officials were able to load the horse in a Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office trailer.

There were no major injuries seen on the horse except some minor cuts and scrapes. The horse was transported to a local vet for a proper examination and treatment, officials said.
