Leon Bridges sells out Fort Worth show. Announces future Texas tour dates
Tickets to Leon Bridges’ hometown Fort Worth concert have sold out.
Bridges is going on tour this fall in support of his new album — “Leon” — which releases on Oct. 4. The tour begins in Austin on Oct. 4 and ends in Fort Worth at Dickies Arena on Nov. 15.
In a social media post Monday, Bridges announced the sold out ticket news and thanked fans for making it happen.
“10 years ago I started my journey on the southside of Fort Worth playing open mics at The Grotto, Magnolia Motor Lounge and The Boiled Owl [Tavern] while trying to find my way as a local musician,” Bridges said. “I’ve managed to do a lot since then, more than I would ever have imagined but what I am about to say has been a long time coming and I am honored to share this with you especially - my hometown fans.”
Bridges also announced a few additional tour dates in Texas cities that he hasn’t “been to in a minute, if ever”.
Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock will host a show on Oct. 7, The Plaza Theatre in El Paso on Oct. 8, and the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio on Oct. 10. These three new dates add to the previously announced Texas tour dates in Austin on Oct. 4 and 11 and Fort Worth on Nov. 15.
Presale tickets for the Lubbock, El Paso and San Antonio shows are open now with the code “TEXAS.” Public on sale tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Friday.
“My record is coming out in just a few weeks (Oct. 4th) and I want to get to a few other Texas cities that I haven’t been to in a minute, if ever,” Bridges said. “The kind of cities that remind me of where I started and what truly matters to me. That connection with your hometown and home state, and the fans that support you every step of the way.”
“Leon” is Bridges fourth album since breaking into the music scene with his debut record “Coming Home” in 2015.
Bridges has said on social media that “Leon” is his “most personal” album yet. The 13-track record has a song titled “Panther City,” which is a nickname for Fort Worth.
“Leon” releases on Oct. 4.
