Car hits, kills man who stepped into traffic on Lancaster Avenue in Fort Worth, police say

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating after a car hit and killed a pedestrian on East Lancaster Avenue early Sunday morning.

Officers responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. to the crash at the intersection of East Lancaster and Riverside Drive and found that the man had stepped out into traffic, police said in a news release. The driver who hit the man had a green light, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man after his next-of-kin have been notified.
