Motorcyclist killed after crashing into back of school bus, Fort Worth police say
A motorcycle rider died after crashing into the back of a school bus Tuesday morning in Fort Worth, police said.
There were children on the Fort Worth ISD bus, but they were not injured in the collision, authorities said.
The accident was reported shortly before 8:15 a.m. on North Beach Street at King Oaks Lane, according to a police incident report.
The motorcyclist, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 36-year-old Travis Waters, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance video obtained by KXAS-TV showed the motorcycle catch fire after hitting the bus, as the bus driver was turning left.
The bus was on its way to Riverside Middle School. The school district provided counseling to the students involved.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
A second accident involving a school bus was reported shortly before 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to Fort Worth police records. A school bus and a Honda collided in the 4800 block of Southwest Loop 820.
Four adults received minor injuries in that crash, a MedStar spokesperson said.
