The Alice Carlson Applied Learning Center was closed Friday after a gas leak was detected near the campus, Fort Worth ISD announced in a news release Thursday.

The elementary school was closed for the day due to repairs, which may impact the availability of heat and water, according to the release.

“Parents, we acknowledge that this decision may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption to your routines. Our primary goal is to ensure your safety, and we felt it was crucial to communicate this information promptly,” the school district said in the release.

The district said it would keep parents informed as officials receive updates from the gas company.

“Our maintenance team will collaborate with the gas company to address any issues and facilitate a safe return to campus,” the district said.
