Fort Worth ISD opens schools. Here are closings for Tarrant County for Jan. 17, 2024

Fort Worth ISD is preparing to welcome students on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the regular starting time with all campuses open except for Polytechnic High School, which will remain closed because the school is completely without heat, the district said in a statement.

The district said it is taking precautions to provide for the well-being of students and staff, and it encourages families to dress students in layers to stay warm.

Fort Worth ISD, TCU and multiple other North Texas school districts canceled classes on Tuesday. Below is what we know so far about Tarrant County-area announced closings or delays. Check back here for live updates as we receive them.

Aledo: OPEN on Tuesday. “Sunshine has helped local roads to clear for safe travel tomorrow in Aledo ISD! We will have a regular school schedule Tues 1/16. It will be cold throughout the day & especially tomorrow a.m. at bus stops & during morning arrival so bundle up & stay safe, Bearcats!”

Arlington: OPEN on Wednesday.

Azle: There was no Tuesday closure announcement.

Birdville: OPEN on Tuesday.

Burleson: OPEN on Wednesday

Carroll: OPEN on Tuesday.

Castleberry: In the event of a delay or closure due to weather, the district will communicate this information by following the emergency procedure outlined on their website. Parents should continue to check the district website, social media sites and Canvas for updates. Crowley: OPEN on Wednesday. Crowley ISD is opening its school buildings early on Wednesday to limit the amount of time students are outside in the cold weather before school. Elementary schools will open buildings at 6:30 a.m. and middle and high schools at 7 a.m.

Dallas ISD: OPEN on Wednesday. Campuses will open doors 30 minutes earlier than normal to accommodate students.

Dallas College: OPEN on Wednesday

Eagle Mountain-Saginaw: OPEN on Tuesday. Buses will run normal routes.

Everman: CLOSED on Tuesday.

Fort Worth: OPEN on Wednesday except for Polytechnic High School, which is without heat.

Godley: OPEN on Tuesday

Grand Prairie: OPEN on Wednesday

Great Hearts Texas: CLOSED on Tuesday.

Grapevine-Colleyville: OPEN Wednesday on regular schedule. TWO-HOUR DELAY on Tuesday.

Hurst-Euless-Bedford: CLOSED on Tuesday. After-school and evening activities will be evaluated based on current conditions.

Keller: OPEN on Wednesday.

Kennedale: CLOSED on Tuesday.

Lake Worth: OPEN on Wednesday.

Mansfield: OPEN on Wednesday.

Northwest: OPEN on Tuesday.

Tarrant County College: OPEN on Tuesday. “All TCC campuses will open at normal hours tomorrow, January 16. Dual enrollment students from closed schools should monitor Canvas for coursework from TCC instructors.”

TCU: OPEN on Wednesday.

University of North Texas: OPEN on Tuesday.

University of Texas at Arlington: Campus opens at 10 a.m. Tuesday for employees. Classes resume at 11 a.m. Any classes scheduled before 11 Tuesday were canceled.

White Settlement: OPEN on Wednesday.
