Last minute shopping for Thanksgiving can be hectic, between navigating crowds and finding a good price.
Most grocery stores across Fort Worth will operate at normal hours Wednesday ahead of turkey day. Stores such as Walmart and Target, however, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
The Star-Telegram has compared the prices of certain Thanksgiving items across three local grocers: Walmart, Target and Albertsons. Here’s what a basic Thanksgiving Day meal might cost.
Walmart
Here’s a few items that make up a basic Thanksgiving meal:
- Butterball frozen turkey 10-16 pounds: $18.34 or $1.28 a pound.
- Stove Top stuffing mix 6 ounce box: $1.98
Pumpkin pie 10-inch: $6.42
Pecan pie 8-inch: $5.82
Total: $45.96
Target
Here’s a few items that make up a basic Thanksgiving meal:
Butterball frozen turkey 10-16 pounds: $23.84 or $1.49 a pound
Total: $57.46
Albertsons
Here’s a few items that make up a basic Thanksgiving meal:
Butterball frozen turkey 14-16 pounds: $29.85 or $1.99 a pound.
Sweet potato: $0.49 a pound or $1.47 for 3 pounds
