Hundreds of Dallas-Fort Worth residents will be able to get free medical, vision, and dental care in November thanks to the return of a traveling clinic that will operate for two days in Fort Worth.

The Remote Area Medical clinic will be at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1701 W. Boyce Ave., in Fort Worth on Nov. 4 and 5. This is the clinic’s third year in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Established in 1985, RAM travels throughout the world providing free health care to those in need. In a typical year, the clinic will go to more than 60 locations throughout the U.S., said Audra FitzGerald, RAM’s senior clinic coordinator.

The nonprofit, which is based in Tennessee, will bring a staff of core volunteers and equipment to its location. The Fort Worth clinic will be operated in partnership with the UNT Health Science Center.

Clinic services are available on a first-come, first-served basis to children or adults. Patients do not need to bring any identification or qualifying documents to receive services. All patients can receive medical care, but patients must choose between either vision or dental care. All services are free.

On both Nov. 4 and Nov. 5, the clinic will begin serving patients at 6 a.m. The patient parking lot will open by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 3. If you decide to line up overnight, FitzGerald recommends bringing any medications you might need, as well as enough food and water to last during your waiting period. If you are in need of dental care, you should get in line early as dental services as typically in high demand, FitzGerald said.

Services available include dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, dental X-rays, eye exams, eye health exams, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglasses made on-site, women’s health exams and general medical exams, according to a news release from the nonprofit.
