This apartment tower will sit near the riverbank of Fort Worth’s future Panther Island
High-rise living could be coming to the banks of the Trinity River.
Dallas-based Centergy Retail is proposing building a residential tower near the future Panther Island bypass channel. The channel will connect two parts of the Trinity River to create a 338-acre island and San Antonio style river walk north of downtown Fort Worth.
The 1.8-acre property at 328 Greenleaf St is on the north end of Centergy’s Left Bank development in the West 7th District.
Centergy is asking the city to waive a building requirement that would force developer to have the skinny side of the building facing the river.
“There is a gas-well pad across the street that limits the applicant’s ability to orient the narrow side of the tower towards the river because the project includes a multifamily component,” said Justin Newhart, Fort Worth’s historic preservation officer, in an email to the Star-Telegram.
Details of the building are not known, but a drawing in the company’s marketing material shows it towering over the river. Centergy president West Miller did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday afternoon.
The city will release more details about Centergy’s application on July 17. The developer is scheduled to meet with the city’s Urban Design Commission at 10 a.m. July 20.
