The body of a missing 23-year-old Fort Worth man was found in the Davy Crockett National Forest in Houston County, officials said.

Vincent Berardi was reported missing on May 20. His body was found on Saturday, according to a social media post from Houston County Sheriff Randy Hargrove. The post did not say how he died.

Hargrove thanked all those who had helped search for Berardi and asked for prayer for Berardi’s family and friends.

Berardi’s parents told authorities their doorbell camera showed their son leaving the house around 5:40 a.m. on May 19. Officials found Berardi’s vehicle at the old park ranger station in Ratcliff, according to Hargrove.

Rescue teams initially searched Berardi’s favorite hiking trail, which runs from the ranger station to Neches Bluff near Highway 21 East, but without results.

At the time of Berardi’s disappearance, it was thought a friend might have picked him up and driven him to another location.
