Two Fort Worth police officers and a civilian were injured in an accident on Interstate 35 West near Berry Street early Thursday, officials said.

A training officer and a rookie were helping the drivers of three vehicles disabled by debris on the freeway around 1:30 a.m. when another vehicle hit their patrol car, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported. The patrol car then hit one of the disabled vehicles.

The training officer moved the rookie and the civilian to safety on the shoulder of the interstate, and seconds later another vehicle hit their cars and fled the scene, police said.

The two officers and the civilian were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, police told WFAA.

A MedStar official said the two officers had minor injuries, while the civilian had more serious injuries.
