Fort Worth firefighters found the body of a man early Wednesday in a burned outbuilding in north Fort Worth, authorities said.

The body of a man was found early Wednesday in a burned outbuilding in the back yard of a home in north Fort Worth, a fire department official said.

An investigation was underway Wednesday to determine a cause for the man’s death and what started the blaze in the 2100 block of Prospect Avenue.

No other injuries were reported in the fire, which was called in about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire officials said three to five outbuildings, which were located in the back yard of a home, were on fire when firefighters arrived.

Outbuildings can include sheds, barns or garages.

“Firefighters believed there would be some animals in the back yard because there were also cages and pens, but I don’t see any reports of them,” said Craig Trojacek, public information officer for the Fort Worth Fired Department, on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in the outbuildings and later discovered the man.
