1951: Firemen from Carswell Air Base and Convair poured a flood of chemical mixtures onto a B-29 superfort that blazed after a crash at the base. Flames engulfed the bomber seconds after the plane skidded to a stop, but the five crewmen ferrying the B-29 from Pyote to Warner Robins Air Base, Georgia, escaped without aid from the wreckage.
