Police, sheriff’s deputies and the fire department in Fort Worth talked a man off the ledge Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

When a deputy was in the area of northbound Interstate 35W and Rendon Crowley Road around 3:51 p.m., she noticed a man standing on the bridge, according to the release. The deputy, trained as a hostage negotiator, began talking to the man to try to get him away from the ledge.

The man was eventually taken safely away from the bridge and Fort Worth police took him to the hospital for evaluation, according to the release.

“The attentiveness and quick action by all three agencies allowed for this man to be brought to safety and receive the help he needed,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.

If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide or experiencing a mental health crisis, you can call 988 for help. If anybody is in immediately life-threatening crisis, call 911.
