Man on the run from South Carolina police for nearly 6 months arrested in Fort Worth

A South Carolina man on the run for nearly six months was arrested in Fort Worth Wednesday, police said in a news release.

Vangereil “Gerald” Dreteckes Miller, 30, of Chester County, South Carolina, was arrested after authorities put a $10,000 reward out for information leading to his arrest. Miller is suspected of shooting five people, killing two, according to police and the FBI.

Miller was arrested after Fort Worth police fugitive offices determined he was at an apartment off East Rosedale Street on Wednesday. Police worked with the U.S. Marshal Service and the FBI to locate and apprehend him, according to police.

After he was arrested, Miller was taken to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, where is awaiting extradition back to South Carolina for trial. He’s been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to police.

Miller opened fire on five victims on March 6, according to Star-Telegram news partner WFAA Channel 8. Kevin Feaster died at the scene and Shonta Neely died later at the hospital, where she and three others were taken. Chester County Sheriff’s Office warned that Miller was to be considered armed and dangerous.
