Fort Worth elementary school closed after electrical fire to reopen Wednesday

South Hills Elementary School was closed Tuesday after an overnight electrical fire and will reopen for regular class hours Wednesday, the Fort Worth school district announced Tuesday.

“The Fort Worth ISD is closing South Hills Elementary today, March 22, due to a lack of electricity available on campus,” the school district said. “Twenty-five classrooms have been affected as a result of an electrical fire that occurred late last night.”

Parents were not to send their children to the campus Tuesday, the district said in a news release, adding that parents and guardians should have been notified through the school district’s mass communication system.

Staff have been contacted to come to the school and assist.

Fort Worth ISD will communicate any updates to students, families and employees via the district’s social media and website fwisd.org.
