One person treated for smoke inhalation, taken to hospital after Fort Worth house fire
One person was treated for smoke inhalation after a Thursday house fire in south Fort Worth that required multiple fire companies and a “big booster” to extinguish, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.
Firefighters received multiple calls around 3:30 Thursday about a structure fire in the 1200 block of Colvin Avenue, the fire department said in an emailed statement. Fire crews arrived on scene to find “heavy fire from the back of the house.”
Multiple companies began searching the house because of reports that someone was inside. The fire department did not say if the person treated for smoke inhalation was found inside the building or was already outside by the time fire crews arrived.
The person, an 89-year-old man, was taken to hospital by MedStar in stable but serious condition, a MedStar spokesperson said. One resident was displaced by the fire, according to the fire department.
The fire department said the blaze did heavy damage to the back of the home but did not total the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
