Man shot in back, head, but still drives to Fort Worth police for help
A 35-year-old California man who helped out someone involved in a traffic accident was shot twice by that person early Thursday in north Fort Worth, police said.
The man suffered gunshot wounds to his back and head, but he managed to get to Fort Worth police for help. He was taken to a local hospital.
The man was listed in good condition, according to a MedStar spokesman.
The shooting was reported shortly before 3 a.m. at Northwest 30th Street and Ross Avenue.
Fort Worth police were working a major traffic accident in the area when they noticed a vehicle that caused concern and stopped it.
The victim in the stopped vehicle was found to have gunshot wounds, police said.
The victim told police he had picked up someone from the scene of the traffic accident near Northwest 30th Street and Ross Avenue and driven that person to a different location.
At some point, the two got into an argument, police said. The suspect stepped out of the car and shot the victim twice.
The suspect fled, while the victim drove back to the scene of the traffic accident where patrol officers stopped him.
No one has been arrested in the case as of Thursday morning.
