SWAT standoff in Fort Worth ends with tear gas after armed man barricades himself

A SWAT team used tear gas to end a standoff at an apartment complex in southwest Fort Worth on Friday night that began with a man shooting at his roommate in a car before he barricaded himself in his unit for about three hours, police said.

Keefer Don Jocoy, 25, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on the charges of aggravated assault family violence with a weapon and deadly conduct with discharge of a firearm, according to a police incident report. He was treated for exposure to tear gas before he was taken into custody, police said.

The victim had no reported injuries.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 6 p.m. Friday stating a man had been shot at in the 5000 block of Overton Ridge Boulevard outside of the Barcelona on Chisholm Trail Apartments, police spokesman Officer Bradley Perez said in an email Saturday morning. The victim told police he had arguing with his roommate, Jocoy, inside of a vehicle, when Jocoy pulled out a gun and pointed it at his head, Perez said.

The victim leapt out of the vehicle as Jocoy fired shots toward him, missing, Perez said. Jocoy then went inside of an apartment, and as officers began arriving, they could tell he was firing more shots inside the apartment.

The police incident report indicates the apartment where he was barricaded was his own residence.

A person sent the Star-Telegram a video on Facebook taken around 9:30 p.m. outside of the complex, which is located across the street from a Steak & Shake.

Two loud bangs can be heard as the person sits parked across the street. Then, as the person drives by the scene, several police cars with flashing lights are visible.

SWAT was eventually called to the scene, Perez said, and they deployed teargas. This forced Jocoy to leave his apartment around 9:30 p.m., when he was arrested.

SWAT cleared the scene around 2 a.m., Perez said.
