Man sought in girlfriend’s killing shot by Dallas police officers after chase, crash
A man killed his girlfriend Friday inside a Dallas apartment before he crashed her vehicle in Mesquite and Dallas police shot him, authorities said.
Investigators found a hunting knife by the vehicle that the man, Jerry Ford, drove, Mesquite police said.
Ford, 58, killed his girlfriend at the Ivanhoe Apartments in the 8900 block of Park Lane, Dallas Police Department Deputy Chief Ruben Ramirez alleged.
Police did not release the cause of Nicole McChriston’s death. She was 40.
Ford called 911 about 10 a.m. and indicated that he had killed a person, Dallas police said.
Ford left the apartments in McChriston’s vehicle, police said. After a short pursuit that involved Dallas police, Ford crashed about 12:45 p.m. on a turn in the 500 block of Parkwood Trail in Mesquite, in the front yard of a house, authorities said.
Four Dallas police officers fired upon Ford, who was shot several times. He was taken to a hospital. Ford’s condition was unclear but stable. He talked with an officer, a Mesquite police spokesman said.
Ford will be charged with murder, Dallas police said.
