Another heat advisory for Fort Worth, but several rounds of thunderstorms in forecast

Here’s the weather lineup for North Texas this week: hot, rain, then rain again and finally cooler days just as the Labor Day weekend arrives.

That all means that North Texans should drink plenty of fluids and get the umbrella when showers and thunderstorms find their way into area neighborhoods.

Some thunderstorms popped up along the Red River on Monday morning and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for a few counties northeast of Dallas.

A heat advisory was in effect until 8 p.m. Monday as temperatures again climbed to near 100 degrees in the Fort Worth area.

But a slow-moving cold front is expected to arrive early Tuesday with a 40% chance of thunderstorms overnight Monday, with a chance of hail in counties near the Red River.

The cold front will bring several rounds of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain chances increase to 60% Tuesday and 70% Wednesday. And, North Texans won’t see 100 degrees.

The daytime high on Tuesday should be about 95 and it will be in the upper 80s on Wednesday.

“We will have rain chances through the rest of the week,” Sellers said.

Rainfall totals will average 2-4 inches in Tarrant County and other North Texas neighborhoods.

Cooler temperatures also will remain for the rest of the week just in time for the Labor Day weekend.
