Injuries, damage reported as wicked winds fell trees during North Texas thunderstorm
Winds hurled tree limbs and damaged structures across an area to the northwest of Fort Worth on Saturday night as a thunderstorm moved across the region.
An emergency manager in Parker County reported to the National Weather Service that the storm caused significant damage and injuries south of Briar.
The damage was focused along Farm to Market Road 730 near Briar Road, according to the report. Photos on social media showed RVs flipped over, damage to the roofs of homes, and debris on roads and surrounding a Dollar General store.
No serious injuries had been reported in Tarrant County, the county sheriff’s office said Saturday night.
The weather service had warned that damaging down-burst winds could accompany the storms.
The weather service also received reports of damage in Watauga, including fences and trees down, and shingles and siding peeled off a home near North Beach Street and Heritage Trace Parkway, according to its website.
There were reports of large trees down in North Richland Hills.
Roof and tree damage was reported at homes in the Ponder and Justin areas in Denton County.
The weather service also reported significant tree damage outside its office in North Fort Worth, which it said was caused by 50 mph winds.
