A man died early Sunday after being shot multiple times during a domestic dispute near a downtown Fort Worth neighborhood, Fort Worth police said Monday.

Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting.

Fort Worth police did not release any information on a suspect.

The name of the man who died has not been released pending notification of relatives.

Initially, Fort Worth police responded to a domestic disturbance call shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of College Avenue. While they were en route, officers were notified that shots had been fired.

The man had arrived at the location looking for his ex-girlfriend, Fort Worth police said. After a verbal confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, the man was apparently shot by a relative of the woman, according to WFAA-TV.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he died from the gunshot wounds.
