A man died Friday after the ATV he was operating crashed into another vehicle in southeast Fort Worth as he fled officers pursuing him for illegally driving on a public street, police said.

Argeny Martinez, 37, died about 7 p.m. at a hospital, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Martinez led an officer on a short chase and crashed in the 700 block of Oak Grove Road, police said.

The police department declined on Saturday morning to describe the crash in detail and said more information would be available after the Traffic Investigation Unit filed a preliminary fatality report.

A police spokesman was unable to immediately say what time the crash occurred and did not respond to a question asking if anyone in the vehicle was injured.
