Man shot to death, two others wounded after argument in south Fort Worth, police say

A man was shot to death and two other people were wounded Tuesday night after an argument in a south Fort Worth neighborhood, authorities said Wednesday.

The name of the man who died has not been released by authorities pending notification of relatives.

A suspect was booked into jail early Wednesday, Fort Worth police said.

Anthony Tanksley, 56, of Fort Worth faces a charge of murder in the shooting, according to jail records. He was in the Tarrant County Jail on Wednesday without a bond.

Fort Worth patrol officers responded to a shooting call at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 4900 block of Fair Park Boulevard.

A caller reported that a cousin had just been shot, according to a police call log.

Screaming could be heard in the background, according to the call log.

Homicide detectives learned that the man who was killed and a suspect had been in a verbal argument earlier in the evening, but the suspect left the scene.

The suspect returned and fired multiple rounds, wounding three people, police said. One man died at the scene, while the two other people were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

More than 20 patrol units converged on the neighborhood just minutes after the shooting.

Fort Worth police did not release other details such as a motive for the shooting.
