Woman shot in chest in Fort Worth, suspect in custody, police say

A woman was shot in the chest in south Fort Worth early Thursday, and the man suspected of shooting her is in custody, police said.

The woman was reportedly transported to a hospital, where she was in stable condition.

Police were unable to provide information about the suspect including his relationship to the victim. He’s in the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 3500 block of Townsend Drive around 1:35 a.m. Thursday, police said. They found the woman, who had been shot in the chest.

Police couldn’t say what led to the shooting.

It’s unclear what charge or charges the man is facing.
