Woman killed, 3 injured when car crashes into Fort Worth exit sign pole, police say
A 20-year-old Burleson woman was killed and three people were injured late on New Year’s Day after she lost control of her car on Interstate 30 in Fort Worth and slammed into a large metal exit sign pole, authorities said.
Emily Kate Beckham was pronounced dead at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday at the scene of the crash, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The three passengers who were in the car with her were transported to a hospital, one of them with critical injuries and two with non-life-threatening injuries, Fort Worth police said.
Officers responded to the accident in the 3300 block of I-30 around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday. The woman had been reported to be speeding, police said, when she appeared to lose control of her car as she tried to take the Montgomery Street exit in Fort Worth.
Traffic detectives are continuing to investigate the crash.
