Officials identify driver killed in weekend crash on Fort Worth highway

A driver killed in a weekend crash on the South Freeway has been identified as Robert Daniel of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Monday.

Daniel, 51, was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. Saturday from injuries he suffered in a traffic crash, according to the website. His death was ruled an accident.

He was injured when he was thrown out of his car after it rolled several times, police said.

The accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the South Freeway or Interstate 35W.

Daniel was driving a Mini Cooper at a high of rate of speed, police said, when he passed a semi truck and lost control of his car.

The car went out off the highway and became airborne, landing and rolling several times, police said.

Witnesses told officers Daniel and a female passenger were ejected from the car. The woman was taken to a local hospital and her condition was not available on Monday.

Daniel died at the hospital.
