Armed man fails in robbery of worker in Fort Worth parking lot, police say

A man brandishing a handgun tried to rob a worker at a construction site in a parking lot Thursday morning, but he ran away before police arrived.

It was the same parking lot where earlier in the week a woman is accused of killing a man by driving over him.

On Thursday, the would-be robber escaped by running behind the Seminary South Library.

Police did not provide details on how the robbery failed.

No injuries were reported in the attempted holdup in the 4200 block of the South Freeway service road.

Officers responded to the robbery call shortly after 9:30 a.m. Police arrived at a parking lot where a crew had been working.

A worker told officers that a man wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt walked up to him, brandishing a handgun.

The attempted holdup occurred in the parking lot near the OK Corral nightclub, which also was where a man was killed early Monday when a woman drove over him twice after an altercation in the club.

The homicide victim was identified as Emmanuel R. Ramirez, 30, of Fort Worth and the suspect, Laura Rosas, 33, of Forest Hill, was booked into jail Monday night.
