Fort Worth driver killed after vehicle slams into back of disabled semi-truck, police say

A woman was killed early Saturday on Interstate 20 in a two-vehicle accident, police said Monday.

The motorist was driving westbound on the highway when for an unknown reason she veered off the highway and struck the back of a disabled semi-truck, police said.

Patrol officers responded to the crash on Interstate 20 near McCart Avenue.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, according to a ruling by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office website on Monday.

The victim was identified as Angenic Smith, 26, of Fort Worth, according to the website on Monday. She died from blunt-force injuries and her death has been ruled an accident.

The driver of the semi-truck had been traveling west on the highway when the vehicle began to have mechanical problems, police said. The truck driver pulled onto the right shoulder of Interstate 20.
