Employee shoots suspect in attempted robbery at Fort Worth store, police say
A suspect shot in the leg by a convenience store employee during an attempted robbery Wednesday morning has been identified as a 27-year-old Fort Worth man, according to jail records.
Kenneth Darnell Bridgewater was taken to a local hospital for treatment after being wounded, but he was in the Tarrant County Jail Thursday.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting at the Cowboy Store, 1864 Handley Drive.
Patrol officers responded to the call shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Bridgewater is accused of walking into the store and attempting to rob it armed with a handgun. At some point, a 28-year-old store employee brandished his own handgun and fired at the suspect, police said.
The suspect fled the store, but he was later located by police.
